Early this summer holiday my family and I went to visit Vietnam. My husband and I agreed to take 4 Chinese teenagers along with us, (no extra charge 🙂 The 4 kids are 16-17 years old, two boys and two girls. I am their English teacher, and after hearing about our plans they asked to come along. You are probably thinking that we were asking for trouble taking 4 teenagers on a holiday trip (teenage pregnacy… drowning I could go on), but I said CHINESE teenagers, so don’t think about what you were doing at their age. We told them, “Girls in this room and boys in that,” and they were chill. It was just that simple. Oh, we also treated Lester’s mom to the trip! Altogether, we made for a peculiar group of 8 (counting Alemayehu) it was still a really fun trip.
The stressful moments had nothing to do with the group. We got stuck in the airport for 18 hours before we left China, and had to endure 2 tired nights of traveling to get to Mai Chau. Our time in the village was really great once we were rested however. Then we moved onto Cat Ba island, and we stayed on a tiny rock in a lagoon like setting, really peaceful and quite enchanting … then onto one day in Hanoi. The trip back was also stressful, because of a mix-up at the hotel. Going and coming was horrible, but the time in between was bliss!
All considered, everyone had a great time. Crazy right? Don’t believe me? Check out the pictures. I also posted this and more albums on Google plus.
